9409 Greenwell Springs Rd. Baton Rouge, La. 8/ 9/84 Department of the Army U.S. Army Transportation Center Fort Eustis, Va. 23604 Dear Ms. Shepard: I am sorry to have taken so long to answer your letter of April 23. First of all I want to say I have been unable to find anyone who was associated with the “USS John J. Meany.” Second; that army insignia you referred to was the transportation patch. I will be seeing Lt. Bromberg in September. She is trying to get some of these patches so to be able to send you one. That plus a uniform she has. That is if you still want them. No doubt you have heard from more of the personnel of the “Louis A. Milne”, so perhaps you, have all the material you need. However, I am enclosing some papers I typed about our life aboard that ship. I realize I have made many a grammar and typing error. But if they interest you at all you have my permission to use them as you see fit. If of no use and not inconveniencing you I would like them returned to me. Also, you have my permission to give my address to anyone who was on the “Louis A. Milne”. I hear from some of the nurses and have heard from Mr. Thompson. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like or if you have enough items. Sincerely, |
